Woman's rights

Men and women are often seen as equals; but men don't get sexualized or desexualized as much as women do.  Women are always facing the media who portray an image that shows what a woman should look like rather than encouraging women to be and look like themselves not something they’re not. The other half of the problem women face is desexualization, where many women in different places around the world are falling into traps of the sex trade.   

Woman’s rights are something that many women over the years have been fighting for and still the media find it important to use woman's sexuality to promote an image that's not correct.  Child beauty pageants are teaching children that to look beautiful they have to wear lots of makeup, get spray tans and dress like adults when they are only kids.  They are constantly being judged on what they look like. Child beauty pageants are taking away the youth of children and creating people who are not being themselves by having the media around us starting at young ages lead to suicide, eating disorders from the pressure of what you should look like being in the media that sexualizes woman.  Women grow dissatisfied with who they are and what they look like after seeing the models or pop-stars on TV or in magazines which lead to a negative affect.  Young girls may think that the models they are looking at really look that flawless but really they are "fixed" using the computer which shows that no one really looks like that, but the fact is that young girls don't know that.  The media needs to start promoting girls that are unique, themselves not computerized to look flawless because no is flawless.  

The sex trade is an example of desexualization because it takes away woman's rights and voice being controlled by older men and having to go through what they do, and not even making all the money.  Most of the young woman did not choose that way they were tricked into it and not being able to escape.  Some were taken off the streets offered a job and not realizing that they would end up in such a horrible place and being beaten and threaten to ensure that they don’t run away.    Sexualization takes away the power woman have in their lives, even desexualization takes away that right. Some woman when they are young are forced by parents to by religious believes to have female genital mutilation. Many have had to go through that procedure because it helps resists sexual activity; the parents believe that for them to marry their girls off they should be "clean" of having sex.  But whats happening is that they are taking away young girls rights.  They are taking away what makes them a woman and leaving them scared for the rest of their lives.  Also in the 1920s the media promoted desexualization by creating "the flapper" look, where they had models with no curves or shape at all.  The media is a strong advertising place that encourages images in which they think women should look like.  

By taking away these simple rights and freedom from woman it is not allowing people to be who they are and creating a false image for young girls to want to look like.  To be able to create a place where we teach the younger generations to be who they are and for them to have a place where they can make their own decisions and to have a voice then what needs to happen is for the media to promote this and for everyone to work together in making right of what has been wrong for so long.
